Robert William Burchfield, Rev.,

79, of Route 3, Oneida, passed away early Monday morning, April 10, 1989 at his home following a lingering illness. He was the son of the late R. L. Burchfield and the late Malinda Blankenship Burchfield and was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ronald Eugene Burchfield, II, (Chippie); three sisters: Ona Burchfield, Hattie Chambers, and ? Ooten; three brothers: Artie, Arnold, and Millard Burchfield. Rev. Burchfield was a retired Baptist minister having served more than fourteen years as the Director of Mission with the New River Baptist Associatin and the Tennessee Baptist Convention. He was also a member and a Sunday School teacher at New Haven Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hila Marie Owens Burchfield of Route 3, Oneida; one son, Ronald Eugene Burchfield of Smithville; one daughter, Doris Etheredge and husband, Nathan of Cookeville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Arvil Burchfield of Nashville; two sisters: Hazel Hammons of Oneida, and Ada Wilhite of Grants Pass, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Smith and Rev. Davis Shivar officiating. Lloyd Holt and Laveta Holt sang. Burial was in the Carson Memorial Park. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
