Arthur "Art" F. Stevenson, age 73, of Madison, died Friday November 2, 1990 after an extended illness. He was born July 11, 1917 in Auburn, New York, the son of James Roe and Grace Stevenson. He was married to the former Elizabeth Lester of Auburn on July 11, 1940. His boyhood was spent on his father's farm in Cayuga, New York, where Art raised purebred Guernsey cattle. He left farming in 1943, worked with DeLaval Separator Company for five years ad later worked for Olin Mathieson Corporation, fertilizer division, for twelve years. The last seven years before his retirement, he was Second Deputy Clerk in charge of the Automobile Bureau for Genesee County in Batavia, New York. A native of Cayuga County in New York state, Art and his wife moved to Oakfield, New York, Genesee County, in 1964 and he lived there for 18 years. He was active in 4-H Club affairs in Cayuga County and Genesee County. One of his major activities in 4-H in Genesee County was the development of the popular Walk-A-Thon, a fund-raising activity to benefit 4-H Club work. He also worked with the Boy Scouts in Cayuga County. He attended Cornell University and was past president of the Genesee County Cornell Club. He was an elder of the Oakfield, New York, Presbyterian Church and the past seven years he has been a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison. He is survived by his wife, a son and two grandsons. Also surviving are a brother and a sister and several nieces and nephews
