Obituary - Issue: August 8th, 1944
Robert W. PINKERTON, 86yrs, died at his home, August 7th, 1944, in his home Locust Grove after beening ill for long months and had been bedfast for the last three years of his life. He was born as 4th Child of 7 Children, 3rd Son, on April 25, 1858, on his fathers farm in Page County, Iowa. His Parents came to America from Northern Ireland on the passanger ship "Wolfsville", they arrived at the port of New York on May 9th, 1847, They went to Waupaca Co., Wisconsin where three children were born James, Martha & Samuel J. PINKERTON. In December 1857, they moved to Page Co., Iowa where our subject Robert W. PINKERTON was born in April 1857, and three more children were born William A., 1861, Margaret J. 1863; and Rachel PINKERTON 1867.
At age 19yrs Mr. PINKERTON joined "Covenanter Church" Harlan Twp. Page Co., IA. on 14th May 1877. At age 24yrs Mr. PINKERTON married the 19 year old Miss Carrie J. BENNETT on 8th Feb. 1882 in the "Covenanter Church" Harlan Twp. Page Co., IA. Mr. PINKERTON came to Sherman Co., Oregon in 1886, with his wife & two children. He was a large Wheat Farmer, here in Sherman County Oregon for 58yrs. He is preceded in death by his Mother Maggie J. (Smith) PINKERTON, 1913; his father Samuel W. PINNKERTON, in 1915, of Page Co., IA.; Brother #1 James PINKERTON, 1873 of Page Co., IA.; Sister #2 Mrs. Martha (Pinkerton) BAYLESS, 1938 of Page Co., IA.; Brother #3 Samuel J. PINKERTON, 1923 of Lacy, Thurston Co., WA. Brother #5 Rev. William A. PINKERTON, 1940, Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., CA Sister #7 Mrs. Rachel (Pinkerton) DUNCAN, 1929, of Page Co., IA. and His Wife of 59yrs Mrs. Carrie J. (Bennett) PINKERTON, 1941, of Moro, Sherman Co., OR. A Daughter Mrs. Pearl Emma (Pinkerton) NEWTON, 1920, of Moro, Sherman Co., OR.
He is Survived by 3 Children: #1. Dau: Mrs Wilma (Pinkerton) POOLE, 62yrs of The Dalles, OR. #3. Dau: Mrs Sarah Maggie (Pinkerton) EOFF, 55yrs of Yakima, WA. #4. Son Harry B. PINKERTON, 49yrs of Moro, OR. He is Survived by 1 Sister: #6. Mrs Maggie J. (Pinkerton) McKEOWN, 81yrs of Page Co., IA.
