August W. Munson, 81, of Lake City, died Sunday evening at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Lake City, a son of the late John and Selma Nelson Munson. He was married to Elsie L. Corbett. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1983.
He was a lifelong Lake City resident and was a member of the Lake City Methodist Church. He worked at the Elliot Co. and Quality Components where he retired in 1988. He was an avid farmer and a forest fire warden for over 25 years.
Survivors include a son, John of Lake City; a brother, Carl Munson of Lake City; five grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Nels.
Munson: August W. of Lake City, died April 18, 1999. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lake City Methodist Church. The Rev. Ellen and John Bullock will co-officiate. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, Ridgway Community Nurse Service or to the Lake City Methodist Church. The Meehan Shilk Funeral Home in Ridgway is in charge of arrangements.
