Gordon Washington Card was born on Friday; July 26, 1918 in Parkersburg; Butler County, Iowa, son of Clarence and Dora Klodt Card. He married Earlene Tucker on Thursday; December 28, 1939 in Palmyra, Missouri. She passed away on Tuesday; July 8, 2003. Gordon worked at Rath Packing from 1937 1962 as Frozen Food Sales Manager and then took over his father in law's farm operation in Plainfield, Iowa, in 1962. He was a U.S. Air Force pilot during WWII and the Korean War. Gordon was past president of Bremer County Farm Bureau, honorary member of Bremer County Pork Producers, served on the Bremer County Fair Board, life member of AMVETS, and a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly.


Gordon Washington Card, age 91, passed away on Monday; February 15, 2010 at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. Those left to mourn his passing are: His daughter Kathy Breckunitch of Waterloo, granddaughter Joey (Nick) Podhajsky of Traer, Iowa, grandson Troy (Natascha) Breckunitch of Frankenthal, Germany, great grandson Jamie Breckunitch, sister Melba Nelson of Des Moines, niece Sylvia Christiansen of Des Moines. He is preceded in death by his son in law Jim Breckunitch, brother in law Everett Nelson, and nephew Sterling Nelson. May they rest in peace.
