As a youth, Wylie Spencer Wayman migrated from West Virginia to Illinois. He came with his parents, Jessie and Mary Jane. He had two sisters, Belle married William Wertz and Sylvia married Charles Lishness. One brother, Will married Matilda Gamblin. He was a carpenter and lived in Cornell. He was seventy years of age at his death. He married Abbie Lishness. To this union were born four boys and four girls, of whom three died in infancy.

Wylie Wayman later married Mable Iverson August 17, 1907, at Cornell. To this union, three boys and two girls were born. Stella, a registered nurse, married Albert Welch; Frank Russell married Anna Dutko of Streator. They resided in California where he served with the military police in World War II until his death. There were no children. Lottie Bell "Bee", deceased, married Jack Haydter at Cornell. He managed the Smith Lumber Yard in Cornell and later one in Streator, where they lived. She attended Cornell schools. There were no children. Clark Edward never married and lived in Cornell with his mother. He served in the Pacific Theatre World War II in ordinance. He played basketball at Cornell High School and worked at Interlake Steel, Pontiac. Glenn Wylie married Marie Nicodemus from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a World War II veteran, having served in the European theatres. He worked for Jean McCoy Construction in Pontiac. He attended Cornell schools. They have one daughter, Rachel, who married Tom Fite. He works for General Tire Company and they now live in Everett, Washington. Mabel Wayman, mother of the above five children, died in 1976.
