Mr. Antrim was enjoying a quiet smoke in the hallway window, pitched head first out of the window and fell to the platform in the rear of the Lloyd Snerly grocery. He was breathing his last when Alva Fruit and F. W. Stonaker, who saw him fall rushed down to his assistance but he was dead before the ambulance arrived. The accident happened at 9:15 o'clock. He had been visiting Odd Fellows lodge No 65 and had taken part in the degree work. He was a guest and had gone out for a breath of air and was still wearing the regalia as he sat in the window smoking. It is not known if he lost his balance or whether he was seized with an attack of some illness. He had not been well for the last year. Coroner Elmer Brintlinger empaneled a jury immediately after the accident. It returned accidental death.

He was a carpenter by trade. He was appointed town clerk and the following years he was elected to that office but the next time he was defeated. He was fond of public affair. Much of his time in later years was passed about the court house and he was a friend of all the officials. He was prominent in Odd Fellow circles and was a member of the First Methodist church.

He was well known figure in Decatur which had been his home for 55 years. He was born in the east. In 1865 he was married to Miss Churchman, daughter of Henry Churchman of this city. No children were born to them but they adopted and reared two girls, Alma Koehler now a resident of Chicago and Elle Koehler who died several years ago.
