Daughter of Benjamin Franklin & Eliza Emmaline Long Smith. Belle was the youngest of eleven children. She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. On April 25, 1894 she married David Nathaniel "Nat" Dryden. He died in 1909. She taught in both Chillicothe and several rural schools. She was a member of the Elm Street Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors Lodge. She and David had two daughters: Vinetta and Vorah. She later married a Clevenger.
