SCALES MOUND, Ill. -- Thomas J. Harvey Jr., 72, of Scales Mound, formerly of Hazel Green, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Solara Hospital, McAllen, Texas.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Francis de Sales Church, Hazel Green, with the Rev. Cy Weisensel, the Rev. Chris Kuhn and the Rev. Evert Hiller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, where there will be a parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church.

He was born on April 18, 1937, in Sherman, Texas, son of Thomas J. and Mary Catherine (Aurit) Harvey Sr. He married Nola Mae Finn on Oct. 26, 1957.

Tom farmed the family farm north of Hazel Green and bred and showed registered holstein cattle for 32 years. He also was a real estate agent for 10 years and drove a school bus for Scales Mound Public Schools for 10 years.

He was a member of the National Holstein Cattle Club; the president of the Grant County Holstein Breeders for four years; a member of the Hazel Green School Board for six years, serving as president for two years; a local 4-H leader for 10 years; and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7370 for 31 years.

Surviving are his wife, Nola; three daughters, Tamala Jean (Mark) Salzmann and Teri Joann Harvey, both of DeForest, Wis., and Teresa Jill (Steve) Ploch, of Beaver Dam, Wis.; three sons, Tony Joe (Linda) Harvey, of Dubuque, John William (Le'Ann) Harvey, of Lapeer, Mich., and Ted Jerome (Vickie) Harvey, of Holly Springs, N.C.; four sisters, Mary Jane (Pete) Fager, of Cuba City, Lois Jean Temperly, of Hazel Green, Helen (Dan) Dugan, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Dorothy (Ron) Rasque, of Onalaska, Wis.; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Trudy Janeen; and a brother-in-law, Donald Temperly.
