Bellomy entered the Army Air Corps in 1940 and trained as a bombardier at Mt. Home, Idaho. He served in the European European Theater, North Africa and Italy. Bellomy was awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, ATO, AD and EAME Medals with 3 Bronze Stars.
