MR OGLESBY IS DEAD AT AGE 84
Former Salt Lake City Resident Lived Here Three Years

Following a two-weeks' critical illness of infirmities incident to age, Mr. Joseph Ellis Oglesby, 84, died at 1:25 p. m., today, at the home in Hazelwood community in District 2, of his son, M. L. Oglesby, in which he and his wife have resided since 1929 when they came to this section from Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Rev. Arthur E. Whittle, Trinity Episcopal rector, will conduct services from the McReynolds funeral home at 3 p. m., Friday, but the place of interment for Mr. Oglesby has not been decided upon. Dr. R. F. Ferguson, John B. Ferguson, Robert T. Meriwether and Henry Meriwether will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Oglesby has made many friends during his brief residence in this section and until two weeks ago his health had been exceptionally good and he was remarkably well preserved, being in possession of all his faculties to a marked degree.

Mr. Oglesby was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and was reared there, moving in 1883 to Salt Lake City, where he resided until coming to Montgomery county three years ago to reside with his son.

Sixty-three years ago Mr. Oglesby married Miss Harriett Amelia Yundt who survives, together with two sons, M. L. Oglesby of this county, and R. A. Oglesby of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a grandson, Joe F. Oglesby of the Hazelwood community. He was from early boyhood a communicant of the Episcopal church, holding membership at his death in St. Mark's Cathedral of that denomination in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Oglesby was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity from Washington-Jefferson college in Virginia.
