MARION, KY. Wilbur Brantley passed away on July 5, 2006. He was born in 1918 in Crittenden County, Kentucky to Albert and Eunice Brantley. He was the fifth child in a family of nine children. Wilbur served in the 243rd Signal Operation Company Army in the Aleutian Islands Italy and Africa. He was employed by the railroad and served on the Board of Education in Crete, Illinois. Wilbur married Corene Roberts on September 20, 1941.
He is survived by his three children, Pamela Davenport, Brent Brantley (Jeanette) and Regina (Bob) Cook all living in Marion, Kentucky; nine grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Howerton Nashville Tennessee and one brother, Clarence Brantley, Roseville, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corene; his parents, Albert and Eunice Brantley; three sisters and three brothers. Wilbur and Corene retired and enjoyed many years working together on their farm in Marion, Kentucky. They were active members at the Marion United Methodist Church.
Viewing will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday evening July 6 at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, Ky., with the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7. Burial will be in the Mapleview Cemetery in Marion.
