Reverend Charles Leslie Powell, Sr. age 88, passed from his life into eternal life at 8:39 A.M. on March 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Marie Miller Powell; parents: Lawrence and Jesse Powell; brothers: Dee, Jack and Frank Powell.
He leaves behind his children: Linda (Porter) Carroll of Philadelphia, Darnell (Alan) Collins of Sweetwater and Charles Leslie Powell, Jr. of Loudon. He has seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Collins-Butler, Jessica Brown, Shannon Covel, Jennifer Fiebke, Amanda Vance, Carrie Sutton and Serena Vargo; he also has 12 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. He has two surviving sisters: Lilah Boruff of Morristown and Joann Keller of Sweetwater, and one brother Bill Powell of Sweetwater.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mike Webb and the Staff of Avalon Hospice for their care and support.
The family will receive friends at Kyker Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 5P.M. until 7P.M. The funeral service will take place in Kyker’s Chapel on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 2P.M. with Rev. Anthony Sutton officiating. The interment to follow in West View Cemetery with full military honors. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater is in charge of the arrangements.
