She was born May 23, 1935, in Pekin, the daughter of Franklin and Helen Preston Golden Sr. She married Beryl Hilst on Sept. 13, 1953, in Manito. He survives.
Nora Mae has two sons, Dennis Hilst and Kevin Hilst, both of Manito. Her former daughter-in-law, Terri Hilst, lives in Morton. She has two brothers, Roy (Sherry) Golden of Pekin and Dr. Franklin (Jean) Golden Jr., both of Pekin. There are two grandchildren, Mathew Hilst of Morton and Ashley (Jake) Byers of Warrensburg, Mo. Three great-grandchildren also survive.
Two brothers, Roger Golden (2005) and Larry Golden (2007), and one sister, Judy Meyer (2000), preceded her in death.
Nora Mae graduated from Manito High School in 1953 and worked a short time for Pekin Insurance.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and baking.
For recreation she liked dancing, bingo and going to the boat in East Peoria. She was very active in the Springlake Victory 4-H group and was a Republican election judge in Manito for many years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Maas Funeral Home in Manito. The Rev. Shane Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at the Maas Funeral Home in Manito.
