E.L. "Bud" Fitzgerald, III, 72, of Knoxville, Tenn. died Thursday, February 25, 2010, following a heart attack.

Bud was preceded in death by an aunt, Eliza Fitzgerald; sister, Patsy Hamilton, of Chickamauga, Ga.; and grandson, Eric Zane, of Ooltewah.

He was a 50-year member of the Ooltewah United Methodist Church.

He was a member and past patron of Ooltewah Eastern Star #365, a member of Ooltewah Masonic Lodge #741 F&AM, Knoxville Scottish Rites, Alhambra Shrine of Chattanooga and the Marine Corp. League of Knoxville.

Bud proudly served the U. S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962. He retired from Lockheed-Martin energy systems in Oakridge.

Bud loved his family, country, friends and dogs Cody, Charlie and Casey.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Regina Fitzgerald, of Knoxville; mother, Nina Lee McArthur, of Ooltewah; sister and brother-in-law, Bettye and Bobby Thompson, of Flintstone, Ga.; son, Richard Kent Fitzgerald, of Tyler, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Roddy Lawrence and Robbie Fitzgerald, daughter, Angela Marie Camp, of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Denise and Billy Belcher, of Riceville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Cristen, Alexia, Amber, Kelsey, Gina Marie, Sara; grandsons, Levi, Eric, Michael, Billy Allen, Todd; and great-grandchildren, Caedmon, Logan, Connor, Hayley, Austin, Alex and Charlie.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral home with the Rev. Ramon Torres officiating.

Burial will follow in Sylar Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the Marine Corp. League of Knoxville.

Pat Hamilton, Johnny Thompson, Sonny Reed, Billy Belcher, Charlie Richardson, Eric Camp, Wayne Henry, Raymond Monger, Jimmy Thompson and members of the Ooltewah chapter of the Masonic Lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
