On March 22, 1935, he married Estella E. Bowen. Before moving to Portland in 1956, the couple were wheat farmers for many years at Dayton. She survives him in Westport. Mr. Coverdale went into diesel engine repair for P&G Supply at Portland, which later became Pacific Detroit Diesel. In 1960 he moved to Westport where he started Westport Marine. He retired in 1978. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia L. Higley of Westport; a son, Cecil L. Vern of Westport; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
