Hannah Bateman was the daughter of John and Phoebe (Maxon) Bateman, who went over the Oregon trail in 1847 with the Elias Buell wagon train. Hannah was born at Ft. Vancouver, shortly after Batemans' arrival, on Nov. 18 1847. Americans then considered the Hudson Bay Company trading fort on the north side of the Columbia, to be part of Oregon territory, and her death certificate states that she was born in Oregon, but her sister Mary (Bateman) Taylor confirmed place of birth was Ft. Vancouver, now located in Washington state. She married James Walter Wright on June 17, 1879 in Halsey, Linn Co. OR. They lived in Brownsville, Linn Co. OR, where she died, Dec 15 1913.
