James "Jim" F. Collis, age 90 of Marion, passed away February 12, 2010 at McDowell Hospital.

He was born December 11, 1919 to the late Jessie Glenn Collis and D.D. Collis of Little Switzerland, NC. He was married to Lillian Roland Collis who passed away January 26, 1987.

He was also preceded in death by sisters: Maude Collis, Ada C. McKinney, Grace C. McKinney, Louise C. Self and Ivory Hopper; brothers: Ralph Collis, Glenn Collis and J. D. Collis.

Surviving Mr. Collis are several nieces and nephews.

Jim was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church of Little Switzerland. He retired from the City of Marion and resided at Lake James Lodge of Marion for many years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Vernon Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Collis Family Cemetery.
