Born October 11, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Frederick Milton and Sarah Catherine (Butler) Boyd. He was a life long resident of the South Mountain, PA area.
Mr. Boyd served in Pennsylvania National Guard.
He and his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Jacqueline Geraldine (Hoover) Boyd, were married October 29, 1955 in Quincy Township, Franklin County, PA.
Mr. Boyd was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA and later worked at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain for 32 years. He retired in 1993.
He was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association and South Mountain Fire Company.
Mr. Boyd enjoyed spending time in his garage working on cars. He also liked to take short trips with friends on his moped.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lisa Baker of Fayetteville; one son, Fred Boyd of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Vanderberg of South Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry K. Baker.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, June 1, 2009 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Lee E. Daywalt officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
