Kenneth C. Abel, 83, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Waukesha Springs Health Care Center. He was born in Sussex on Feb. 17, 1922, to Erwin and Alma (nee Duerrwaechter) Abel.

He was employed at Waukesha Motor Works (now Waukesha Engine), Husco, Aqua-Chem and Wisconsin Centrifugal (now MetalTec). He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1946.

He was an avid woodworker, welder and was known as "The Toolman." He built his own garage and also completed all the finishing work on his home. On Aug. 19, 1950, he married Meta (nee McCormick) Abel; she preceded him in death on May 14, 2001. He was a gifted man, who created wonderful things that showed his love for his family and his God.

He was the beloved father of Kathleen (Frank) Grahek of Saukville, Nancy (Charles) Diehn of Big Bend and Judith (Gregg) Muenchow of Waukesha; proud grandfather of Frank III, Chelsey, Courtney, Kenneth, Peter, Robert, Gregg Jr. and Katie; and great-grandfather of Landon; and dear brother of Donald (Betty) Abel of Appleton. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
