She was born August 8, 1917 in Horry County a daughter of the late Jim and Winnie Johnson Todd. She was also predeceased by her husband Joseph Rollin Baxley; two step-daughters, Lucille Brown and Carrie Bell Roberts; five brothers, Clyde, Hubert, George, Jessie and J.D. Todd; and two sisters, Helen Lovell and Gertrude Todd.
Bessie was a very loving mother and loved to cook for her family.
Mrs. Baxley is survived by two daughters, Margie Martin (Aaron) of Marion and Doris Brown of Galivants Ferry; two sons, Eugene Baxley (Carolyn) of Galivants Ferry and Doug Baxley (Jean) of Conway; one brother Aubrey Todd (Alice) of Conway; three sisters, Pearl Tindall (Lloyd), Libby Marlowe, Kathlyn Booth all of Conway, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss her.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday March 2, 2010 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
