Dennis was born at Coyville, Kansas, on March 7, 1917, the son of Edward and Jesse (Williams) Fitzmorris. He was married to Rosemary Patchin at Neodesha, Kansas, on April 2, 1938.
Mr. Fitzmorris graduated from Fredonia High School and moved to Parsons in 1946. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Parsons, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a fireman at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1941 to 1982, and was captain of the fire department from 1975 until his retirement. He was employed part-time for 27 years by Sunflower Sales in Parsons.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a sister and a son Morton Fitzmorris who died in infancy.
Funeral services were held October 24 at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Father Paul Alderman officiated the service. A rosary was repeated for Mr. Fitzmorris on Wednesday at the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
Survivors included his wife, Rosemary Fitzmorris of the home, four sons, Larry of Lucas, Norman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dennis of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Mike Fitzmorris of Parsons and a daughter Lynda Hedgepath of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four sisters; 17 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A memorial was established in Dennis Fitzmorris's name with the Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.
Interment was in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parsons.
