She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA, and married Richard W. Devol of Des Moines on September 20, 1941. While her husband was serving overseas during World War II, she worked at the Des Moines Ordnance Plant. In 1998, she organized an annual Defense Plant worker's luncheon.
One thing she said about her husband: He was a good dancer.
They enjoyed square dancing for years.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Paulette (Robert) Dorr and Deborah LaBonte; two grandsons; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
