Mrs. Rosa was born in Torrington on Feb. 4, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Eugenie Nathalie (Rosier) Ashe. She was an awesome wife and mother who dearly loved her husband of 57 years, her children and grandchildren. She said that her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishments in life. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and gave generously to the A.S.P.C. A and the Humane Society.
Mrs. Rosa was an avid gardener and found great solace in her gardens. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Rosa is survived by five daughters, Jeanne Wall and her husband, Charles, of Johns Creek, Ga., Paula Jayne Lawless of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Sharon Muthig and her husband, James, Sandra Thompson and her husband, Edward, and Vicki Lynn Rosa, all of Cheshire; a son, Raymond James Rosa of Waterbury; four sisters, Patricia Stethem of Myrtle Beach, S. C. , Lora Perrone of Waterbury, Margaret Ashe of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Helen Collette of Glastonbury; a brother: Richard Ashe; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James E. Ashe, and a sister, Yvonne S. Ashe.
The funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m.
