Augusta and her husband, Fred, came from Clinton, MA, to Butte before coming to the Big Hole in the early 1890's. They had five children: Paul, John, August, Martha, and Lydia.
They took up land about a quarter mile south of where Fred Rutledge's lower ranch is now. Fred died in 1894 and is buried in Wisdom cemetery, as is his wife.
