Chancellorsville
The Battle of Gettysburg

Review of troops march past the White House. Viewed by President Lincoln.

At Gettysburg, the 73rd OVI held the northwest corner of Cemetery Hill, holding the line from Confederates coming from the town to the north and the fields to the west.

George Nixon, Great grandfather of President Richard Nixon was a member of the same Unit and Company. He died from his wounds and is buried at Gettysburg.

During the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Gettysburg, A US Flag, an Ohio State Pennant, and a Buckeye dawned the headstone of every soldier buried there from Ohio. I was fortunate enough to assist the ranger with taking down the flags at the end of the festivities, and as I told the ranger about Amos, he gave me an Ohio Pennant that flew over the grave of one of Amos' comrades. I left it flying above Amos' grave.

A headstone was supplied by Sheldon & Sons, contracted on Aug. 21, 1888
