Obituary:
Thomas Eli Panton, passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, on August 9, 1977 at the age of 69 years.
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home. Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Joe James officiating. Interment followed in Tappen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman Richmond, Paul Sales, Bill Westoby, Harold Shrock, Bill Smeaton, Albert Gienger.
Born on August 8, 1908, at Retreat Borough, Lincolnshire, England, to Eli Panton and Esther Hundleby.
Mr. Panton came to Saskatchewan in 1929 and in 1946 married Mary Christie Kelt. They moved to the Salmon Arm district in 1946 and later made their home at Tappen in 1949. Mr. Paton was mail courier of Tappen for the past 17 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving in World II.
He was predeceased by his wife in January, 1976, and his Uncle John Hundley in 1964, also of Tappen.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean Panton, Victoria; on son, Rev. David Panton, Brandon, Manitoba; all so three sisters; Ivy Frances, Jane, and Winifred Esther, all of England.
