EVANS, Ga. - Allen Julian Dye, age 64, beloved husband of Josephine "Jo" Thornton Dye, entered eternal rest at home on March 1, 2010, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 4945 Hardy McManus Road, Evans, funeral services followed. Pastor Bill Hilley officiated. Interment was in Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton, GA at 4:00 p.m. Survivors include on son, Chris (Brandi) Dye of Statesboro, GA; one brother, Dan (Linda) Dye of Elberton, GA; sister-in-law Jane T. (Mac) Brown; grandchildren Haylee and Kase Dye of Statesboro, GA; nephews Scott (Wendy) Dye of Watkinsville, GA, Derek (Shari) Dye of Elberton, GA, and Judson Brown of Dahlonega, GA: and niece Laurie Brown of Tallahassee, FL. Allen was a loving father, devoted grandfather, and dedicated family member and friend. Allen was born on May 12, 1945, in Elberton, GA, a son of the late Wilbur and Rebecca Jones Dye. He graduated from Elbert County High School and loved his Blue Devil football team. He played football for and graduated from the University of Chattanooga. He still considers his teammates from both schools as family members. Allen was a resident of the Augusta area for 39 years. He was employed by American Greeting Corporation where he was a Lifetime Pacesetter in sales. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Howell Sunday School Class. He took great pleasure in life and never met a stranger. He very much enjoyed the lake, and his hobbies included boating and fishing. Active pallbearers were his cousins Mike Dye, Kent Dye, Don Dye, Brent Adams, Jim Boyd, Jimmy Beasley, and Melet Antonakos.
