Leonidas served in the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 24th Infantry regiment of CT on 18 Nov 1862 and was mustered out on 30 Sep 1863 in Middletown, CT. He re-enlisted in Company A of the 15 Regiment as a Private on 3 Sep 1864. He was wounded and captured 8 Mar 1865 in Kingston, NC. He was awarded a Pension for his efforts and injury. When he died, the pension was awarded to his widow, Ella J. Camp.
