Jacob was christened by his parent on 18 Sep 1793 in the New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia. He fought in the War of 1812

About 1816 he married Christena Otillia Beighley the daugher of Henry Beighley and Catherine Millron. The Beighle family was one of the founders of the church named The Saint John Old Stone Lutheran Church in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Between 1817 and 1840 Jacob and Christena had ten children. John, Mary Ann, Rosanna, Cephus, Samuel, Elizabeth, Catherine, Emeline, Joseph and Henry Moon.

His son Samuel is buried in the Mount Joy Christian Church Cemetery in Scioto County, Ohio. He may also be resting there but this currently has no supporting evidence.
