Attending school in Minneapolis, she graduated in 1915. She spent the summer as a substitute mail carrier for her father while he harvested his wheat.
She began teaching school in Sept. 1915 and taught for 5 years, attending summer school at Kansas University in 1917.
On Nov 28, 1917, she was united in marriage to William Charles Yager of Glasco. She lived most of her life in Ottawa County with the exception of six months in 1925 and 26 when she and her husband lived in Oklahoma City, Okla.
In February of 1926, they moved to Ada where she lived until she moved to Lincoln, Kansas in March of 1979.
Ruth united with the First Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis at the age of 15. She later joined the First Methodist church of Ada.
Four children were born to their union. A daughter and son died in infancy. Two sons, Richard Lloyd Yager of Salina and William Warren Yager of Lincoln survive as well as five grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd W. Fitch of Canon City, Colorado and Warren Fitch and Paul Fitch of California; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Myers of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Mrs. Mary Cooper of Norton as well as many ni9eces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Wayne and by her husband who passed away Sept. 3, 1969.
Services were held Tuesday morning Sept. 9 at Ada with the Rev. Roger Shands officiating. Interment is at the Bohemian Cemetery.
