Grover was the eldest child of Jesse Napolean Silvey and Elvira Elizabeth Phillips. He married Ola Missouri Hefner on Nov 11, 1906 in Oklahoma. They had 5 children, Boyd, Cecil, Irene, Oscar and Jesse.
According to his death certificate, he died from tuberculosis.
