[PAUL R BOWMAN: 28] MrsMarcella Bowman of Spencer busied herself about the house last night awaiting the return of her husband Paul. Instead of his arrival there was a telephone call telling of his death in an auto-truck acci-dent near Poplar Bluff MO, earlier in the day. The report stated that the car in which Paul Bowman & 3 others were killed, skidded on the highway & collided with a truck driven by Delter Reed 37, of Oklahoma City OK. Reed told police that the car skidded in front of his vehicle. According to Mrs Bowman, her hus-band, who owned his own truck, had gone to Chicago IL, to pick up a load which was taken to St.Louis. Saturday he called his home from St.Louis & told his wife to expect him Sunday evening. She said she did not know what her husband was doing riding in the car but that she supposed that a group of truck drivers had gone for a ride together.
Mr Bowman served with the 148th A.A.A. Bn. during the war in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre & his body will be buried in Arlington cemetery following service at the Roy Perry Funrl Home-Washington DC, Friday or Saturday. The body is being shipped direct to Washington.
Surviving Bowman besides his wife-the former Marcella Burton of Grafton, are a stepson: Robert James Fitzgerald-age 7; 5 sisters & 5 brothers-all of around Washington D C. The Bowmans came to Spencer from Medina last September.
