He was a 1935 graduate of Pratt Institute of Art. While in the army he produced many water color sketches and drawings and won several Art Awards. After the war, he traveled to the southwest, living in the art colonies of Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and then Arizona, and California. He returned to the east about 1954 and settled in Honesdale, Pennsylvania where he spent the remainder of his life. His paintings include many landscapes of historical scenes, farms, covered bridges, churches and some portraits. Over 3700 paintings were found at his home after his death.
