Wilbur K. Massey of Raleigh, NC died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Wake Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Hillard J. and Fannie Edwards Massey. He was born in Middlesex, NC, was a graduate of Wake Forest University. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for four years in the Pacific Front and Occupation of Japan during World War II. He was Vice President of Retail Loan Administration for Wachovia and retired after 33 years of service. He was an active member of First Baptist Church since early 1950's.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers Carroll Massey and Henry Massey, and son-in-law James F. Curran Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jay Davis Massey of the home, a daughter Kathryn Curran of Marion, NC, grandsons Dr. Matthew Schooley and his wife Rachel of Atlanta, Ga., Erick Schooley of Marion, NC, two "brother-cousins" William F. Massey and Dr. P. Howard Massey and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Raleigh on North Salisbury Street. Visitation will be held at the church immediately following the service. Burial service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Raleigh Memorial Park on Glenwood Ave.
