Maj. Clark entered the Army Medical Service in 1942. He served on an Army transport ship during World War II and was attached to the 24th Medical Battalion of the 24th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He retired in 1963.
He then became chief of operations research and economic analysis for the Defense Logistics Agency until his retirement in 1983.
Maj. Clark was a native of Kearney, N.J., and attended Princeton University. He graduated from the University of Maryland and received a master's degree in mathematics in 1961 from Columbia University in New York.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Annandale, the American Legion and the Fort Myer officers' club. He built realistically detailed model boats as a hobby. At the time of his death, he was working on a version of the transport ship he served on during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Adele D. Clark of North Springfield; two children, Robert G. Clark of Manassas and Susan G. Stiefvater of Fairfax County; and two grandchildren.
