Comments: Private First Class Cooke was a member of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 21, 1950. He was originally buried in a combat grave, in his parachute, at the UN Cemetery in Pyongyang, North Korea on October 26th 1950. By December, 1950, this area was in enemy hands. His remains were later repatriated to the United States during Operation Glory for burial at Arlington National Cemetery in 1955.

Private First Class Cooke was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
