MOTHER OF WAKE ISLAND HERO DIES - WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (AP) - Mrs. Annie Sinnott Devereux, mother of Lt. Col. James P. S. Devereux, marine commander on Wake Island when it was captured by the Japanese in December, 1941, died today after a lingering illness. Col. Devereux's wife died in July 1942. He is still a prisoner of the Japanese.
