KEIZER -- Elva Powell went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Elva was born in Wauneta, Neb. to Jason and Iva Hixon. She was married to Bernard Powell on September 38, 1942 (in Imperial, Nebraska). They made their home in Sterling, Colo. and Salem before moving to Woodburn in the early 1950's. She has lived in Keizer since 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, her son, Gary and brother, Francis.
Elva was loved and adored by all who knew her. Her compassion and care to all she met was evident to all. She had a passion for her church, her family, gardening, and sewing. She touched many lives. We will miss her. She is survived by her sons, Dick Powell of McMinnville, Dan Powell of Keizer; daughter, Terry McKay of Keizer; brothers, LaVerne Hixon of Kearney, Neb., Robert Hixon of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Chuck Powell, Tracy Gilday, Sheri Powell, Kim, Jimmy, Steve, and Matt McKay, Melinda Bowe and Jason Powell; great-grandchildren, Sheena and Derek Powell, Nevin and Maura Gilday, Ty James and Lexie McKay, Jackson and Julia Bowe, Jacob and Luke Powell; and gret-great-granddaughter, SiAna Powell.
Viewing will be at Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Woodburn from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 4, followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Contributions may be made to the Woodburn Church of Christ. [Jeri Herbert, 2013]
