BREIDING, Wilbur Joseph, "Wib", 90, of Wheeling, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling.

Wib was born May 8, 1919 in Wheeling, a son of the late Lawrence and Agnes (Hillwig) Breiding. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways; a retired member of the Teamsters Local 697, Wheeling; a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, Wib was preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie (Burns) Breiding in 2001; two sisters, Rosemary Kurkowski and Dolores Toothman; and two brothers, Tom and Harold Breiding.

Wib is survived by his three sons, Steve Breiding and close friend, Debbie Barlow of Wheeling, Greg Breiding and his fiancee, Susan Markely of Weirton and Deacon Doug Breiding and his wife, Becky of Wheeling; three brothers, Larry Breiding, Bernie Breiding and his wife, Nancy and Don Breiding and his wife, Sally, all of Wheeling; two sisters-in-law, Lois "Sis" Breiding and Helen Breiding, both of Wheeling; five grandchildren, Mandy and Kim Breiding, Jessica Schunk and her husband, Chris, and Josh and Eddie Breiding, all of Wheeling; a great-granddaughter, Madison Marie Breiding; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thursday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am, Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank O'Kruta officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
