Was married to Bruce K Wingate who died in 1964.∼Winifred S. Wingate, 97, of Carlisle and formerly of Boiling Springs, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. She was born Friday, June 17, 1910 in *Davis, WV and was a daughter of the late Fred L. and Mary (Keller) Smith.
Winifred was the widow of Bruce K. Wingate who died in 1964. She was a 1928 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and had attended the former Carlisle Commercial College. She was a secretary for many years with the late Dr. John Fletcher in Carlisle. Winnie enjoyed knitting, coin collecting, fishing and animals, especially dogs and cats. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar and Glenn Smith and four sisters, Eleanor Nickel, Grace Naylor, Ruth Harvey and Esther McGough.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp. with Rev. Robyn Szoke officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of the arrangements.
