Ella Mae Isaacs,
better known to family and friends as "Granny Mae" was born March 12, 1921 in Sand Lick (Jackson County) and departed this life Monday, August 31, 2009 at her residence, being 88 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Dillard & Nancy (Isaacs) Gabbard.

In 1942 Granny Mae married Wade Isaacs, who preceded her in death.

Granny Mae is survived by four children- Alvin Isaacs & Gail and Ethel Gibson & Harold all of Connersville, Indiana, Dafford Isaacs & Donna of Berea, KY and David Isaacs & Brenda of Sand Gap, KY. She was the grandmother of Chasity & William Banks, Brittany & Brian Harris, Wade Isaacs, Glenn & Teresa Isaacs and 9 additional grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Granny Mae was also preceded in death by a daughter Alice Faye Isaacs; 3 brothers- Arthur Gabbard, Eli Gabbard & Jack Gabbard; by 4 sisters- Lizzie Isaacs, Drucilla Clemmons, Demma France & Alice Gabbard and by 1 grandson- Brandon Sparks.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith.


Funeral service was held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Steele Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn, Paul, Randy, Wade & Jeremy Isaacs, Greg, Mark & John Gibson & Chad Sparks. Honorary pallbearers were Tanner Harris & Kenton Banks.
