Death came suddenly last Saturday to Major Charles Pollard, 56, former Delphi resident and a prominent attorney of Washington, D. C. Riding in a car with his law partner, B. L. Bergeron, Major Pollard suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while the two were passing through LaPorte, Ind. The veteran attorney died in a LaPorte hospital.
Major Pollard was born and reared here and was a member of a prominent pioneer family, His father was the late Robert C. Pollard, brother of the late Charles R. Pollard, well known attorney. Major Pollard left here in 1919 and had since been living in the national capital, having offices there as well as in New York and Chicago. His widow was the former Addie Pigman, whose family was prominent here and in Indianapolis.
Surviving, besides the widow, are a daughter, Lillie Howard Pollard of Washington; his mother, Mrs. Sallie Pollard, of Delphi, and a brother, Bracken T. Pollard, of Beloit, Wis. Mrs. R. M. Isherwood, of Lafayette, is a first cousin. The body was taken to Washington for burial in Arlington cemetery. His mother attended the funeral.
