IN LOVING MEMORY OF BERNADINE SCOTT
---Bernadine Scott, 73, formerly of LaPlata, MO., died Saturday (January 13, 2001) in her home in Annandale, Virginia.
---Born on July 15, 1927, Bernadine was the daughter of James Tye and Minta Collins. On November 5, 1946 she was united in marriage to Private Kenneth Scott, who later became a Colonel in the United State Marine Corps, who survives.
---Also surviving are three daughters and son-in-laws, Nancy and James Layne of The Plains, VA, Jackie and Jim Barnhardt of Springfield, VA, and Candy and Bob Owens of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Virginia Walton of Wheaton, IL and Mary Lou Lema of Lady Lake, FL.; one brother, Lestal Collins of Independence, MO; seven grandchildren, Kenny, Toni, Shannon, Stephanie, Laura, Amanda, and Caroline; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison.
---Berna (or Nana), as she was known to those close to her, was a life-long member of the Community Presbyterian Church of LaPlata, MO. She was also an active member of the Marine Corps Wives Club for many years. Aside from these activities Berna took great pleasure in meeting new people. She was one of those rare individuals that felt comfortable around anyone she met and could enter into a meaningful conversation with any group. It did not matter if she was having Tea with the Queen of England (which she did in 1963), getting her hair done at the local beauty shop, socializing with her women's league bowling club, or playing with her grandchildren and their friends. All of Berna's friends and family will sadly miss her ability to bring a smile to the face of everyone she was around.
---Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 18, 2001 at DeMaine's Funeral Home in Springfield, Virginia.
---The family requests that memorials in memory of Bernadine Scott be made to the Community Presbyterian Church in LaPlata, MO or the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. Memorials may be sent directly to the organization or mailed to: 4914 Wakerfield Chapel Road, Annandale; VA 22003.
