Jeffrey was born in St. Louis, Missouri but grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. He attended North Bethesda Junior High and Walter Johnson High School. Jeffrey was the 4th child born to Jack (FAG #72457261)and Marjorie Ann Ballinger Wood. Siblings are Stephen Hamilton (1950-), Susan Jacquelyn (1952-1995)FAG #97642265, Marcia Ann Wood Hair (1955-), Kenneth James (1960-) and Marjorie Lynn (1966-). He joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 and went through Boot Camp at Great Lakes, Illinois. Shortly after graduating from Boot Camp he was killed by a train in Illinois.
