Mr. Ned R. Chancey, 72 of Covington, GA, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Newton General Hospital in Covington. He was born on January 17, 1930 in Fulton County, GA to the late Rufus Wright and Minnie Ola Dillard Chancey. A lifelong resident of Newton County. Mr. Chancey retired from Consolidated Shoe Company in 1989 and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed antique knife and gun collecting and Georgia pottery. Mr. Chancey was a very devoted and loving grandfather. He is survived by wife, Peggy Chancey, Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Chancey, Covington, Kelly and Julie Chancey, Duluth; grandchildren, Elizabeth Chancey, Nathan Chancey, Haley Chancey; sister, Bobbie Rutledge, Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Ted Chancey, Covington, Jack Chancey, Columbus. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 11, 2002, 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Rev.Carl Standard and Rev. John Ozley officiating Interment will be at Campton Cemetery, Monroe, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alcovy Methodist church in memory of Ned R.
