Long-time businessman Ted Frazer, Sr., 98, of Marion, died March 8 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.

Frazer, a registered pharmacist, founded City Drug Co. in 1926 and retired in 1991. The drugstore, with its trademark soda fountain, was a highly popular business in Marion throughout most of the century. The drug store closed earlier this decade but reopened under new leadership under Thom's Sweet Shoppe two years ago. its new owners have preserved the integrity of the old drug store by decorating the sandwich and gift shop with many of the store's original furnishings.

Frazer, known as a courteous gentleman and shrewd businessman, was a 75 year member of Bigham Masonic Lodge #256, a lifelong member of Marion United Methodist Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club. Frazer continued to attend weekly services at church until a few years ago when his health begin to fail.

Frazer was the last surviving son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Frazer.

Surviving are two sons, Ted Frazer, Jr. of Marion and Thomas Roe Frazer of Sturgis, five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Frazer was preceded in death by his wife, Melba "Babe" Frazer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night at Gilbert Funeral Home. Thursday visitation was held Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon at Gilbert Funeral Home and from noon until 2 p.m. at Marion United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Marion United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Spurrier and Rev. T.D. Everett officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
