Carl Earlywine, 51, 215 W. Blvd., died at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Earlywine had suffered a stroke his place of business, the Earlywine Service Station, 2100 S. Washington St. at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The deceased, who was born in Kokomo March 5, 1905, the son of Roscoe and Ethel Earlywine, had been a resident of this city all of his life. He had been with the Standard Oil Co. for 35 years, 25 of which were spent in Kokomo.
Mr. Earlywine was married to the former Margaret Rittenhouse who survives. He was a member of the Howard County Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Ibn Saud Grotto, of which he was a past president and was presently a trustee, Eagles and Moose Lodges, Indiana Sheriff's Association, and South Side Civic Association.
Surviving with the widow and father, of Magnolia Springs, Ala., are three daughters; Mrs. Evelyn Hohn, of Greentown, Mrs. Betty White, of Kokomo, and Mrs. Joan Stang, of Japan; a son, Robert at home; four brothers, Gerald and Chester, both of Kokomo; Paul of Bell, Calif., and George, of Huntington, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Chattin, of Huntington and Mrs. Helen King, of Fort Wayne, and eight grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the South Side Christian Church, using the Masonic ritual. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The body is at the Ellers Funeral Home but will be taken to the family residence where friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday. It will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.
