She lived just down the street from two of her sisters, Sarah Frances O'Bryan (who was married to Sylvester Monarch) and Mary Ellen O'Bryan (who was married to Peter Edwin Payne). All three women lived in beautiful, grand homes built near each other, and near the largest of the "Monarch/Payne" homes--that of Richard Monarch (who was married to Bettie England). Richard was also the brother of Martin Van Buren and Sylvester Monarch.
In later years M.V. and Ann Monarch's former home was well known because it was owned and used by an order of nuns who all had taken a vow of silence. The home no longer stands, as it was knocked down in 1970. Two of the remaining Monarch/Payne homes still remain and are landmarks in Owensboro, Kentucky.
