LeRoy McNeese Rites Sunday, September 11
Funeral services for LeRoy Henry McNeese, 40, of Sheridan, Mo., were held Sept. 11 at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home on Madison Street with Rev. Walter Ortmann officiating. Mr. McNeese died suddenly at his home near Sheridan on Sept. 7.

Interment with military honors by Bedford American Legion Post 164 was held at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

LeRoy Henry McNeese, eldest son of Henry [Glen] and Della [Rachel Rusco] McNeese, was born at St. Joseph, Missouri, January 16, 1926.

Roy lived most of his life in Taylor County where he attended the Bedford schools.

Roy served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946 serving aboard the USS Barataria, seaplane tender, and the USS Salamava, aircraft carrier, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He acquired four battle stars.

May 31,1961, Roy was married to Marjorie Musick. To this union one son, Ricky Lee was born.

Roy is survived by his wife Marjorie; his son, Ricky; his three other children, Sue Ann McNeese, Jessie McNeese and Raymond, all of Oregon; by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry [Glen] McNeese of Bedford; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Marion (Geraldine) Salenke [Sulenski] of Williamsburg, Virginia; Mrs. Henry (Goldie) Wray of Pickering; Mrs. Robert (Bessie) Smith of Bedford; John McNeese of Bedford and Leonard McNeese of Clarinda; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Roy will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors who knew and loved him.
